Whitney, William A.

William A. Whitney was born in Jackson, Mich., Sept. 18, 1861.  Died of pneumonia at his home near Big Timber, Mont., March 8, 1917, aged 55 years, 5 months, 17 days.  In 1883 Mr. Whitley was united in marriage to Mary Whitney, also of Michigan.  To this union were born five children, four of whom are living to mourn the loss of a father - Elmer Whitney of Grey Cliff, Kittie Pattison of Jackson, Mich., Marion and Linnell Whitney of Big Timber, living at home.  In May, 1908, Mr. Whitney came to Big Timber.  Returning to Michigan the following year, he later returned to Big Timber with his family.  Here they lived until death called him to his eternal home.  He was of a family of nine children, all of whom are deceased but a sister, Mrs. Cora Thayer, of Moscow, Mich.  Mrs. Whitney, the widowed wife, is left to mourn the loss of a companion in middle life.  Thus are we left to say with the Psalmist: "In the midst of life we are in death.  Of whom shall we seek for help but of Thee, Oh Lord.".
