J Earnest Gragg

“Red Lodge Boy,” quite a name to live up to. Photographed in 1915, the “handsome dark bay stallion” was owned and bred by J. Earnest Gragg. The owner was also a Red Lodge boy. However, his strength and duty lay within the Red Lodge city fire station, where he and his wife also resided. For many decades, Gragg managed the operation. However, yearning for country life, Gragg took his hands from the fire and into the bucket, when he resigned from the department in 1938 to purchase the Rock Creek Dairy
