Robert Vallance Is Suddenly Taken By Death in Missoula  
Funeral services will be held in Missoula at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon for Robert E. Vallance who died suddenly at his Missoula home yesterday morning at nine o’clock. Death was due to a heart attack and came as a shock to those close to him, as well as his many friends, who had not suspected that his heart condition was so serious. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. N.R. Brunton and the body will be brought to Riverview Cemetery west of Hamilton for interment in the family plot.
    Robert E. Vallance was born February 1, 1891 at Emporia, Kansas and came to the Bitter Root with his parents in 1908. He worked at the ACM mill at Hamilton and also engaged in farming until about 20 years ago when he moved to Missoula to work for the Sentinel and Golden Glo creameries. later he worked in Helena and since the war returned ot Missoula. He was employed by the Missoula Mercantile at the time of his death.
    Those who survive Mr. Vallance are his widow, Maude Vallance, and the following children: Mrs. Florence Thomas of Hamilton; Mrs. Dorothy Clark of Missoula; Robert of Missoula. There are two grandchildren. Also surviving are his father, John B. Vallance of Hamilton; three brothers: Wilbur, Fred, and Kenneth, all of Hamilton; and three sisters: Mrs. Val Hertz of Missoula, Mrs. Claude Waugh of Spokane, and Mrs. W.J. Harris of Bethel, Kansas.
    The pallbearers will be Herbert Guettler, Leland Wells, John Wilson, Irl Abbey, Grover Moore, and John Hanger. Services in Missoula will be held at the Marsh & Powell Chapel. It is planned that the graveside service in Riverview Cemetery will be held at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow.

    Claire I. Van Blaricom, 75, of Hamilton, died Saturday evening in Hamilton at the Valley View Estates Nursing Home. She was born November 24, 1915 in Corvallis, the daughter of Edmond and Zula Rickards Kimberly. She was raised in the valley and graduated from Stevensville High School. On December 9, 1935, she married Fred Van Blaricom in Hamilton.
    Survivors include her husband; two granddaughters, Kimberly Hawkins of Echirolles, France, and Julie Moose of Little Rock, Ark.; two nephews, Dwight Kimberly of Milwaukee, Ore., and Perry Kimberly of Gaston, Ore. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Dorothy Van Blaricom and Sandra Hawkins; three brothers, Jay, Max, and Rex, one sister, Dorothy.
    Cremation will take place in Hamilton at the Daly-Leach Chapel and Crematory. The urn will be placed in the Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. The family suggests memorials to the Valley View Estates nursing staff.

Mrs. S.J. Vancamp Died Monday
    Mrs. Sarah J. Vancamp, an old resident of the state, died in Stevensville Monday morning, May 10, aged 77 years. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Mary Porch and Mrs. Jessie Joseph, residents of Stevensville and two sons living in another state.
    The funeral was conducted in the M.E. church Tuesday afternoon by Rev. J.W. Tait, and Rev. T.H. Martin. Rev. Tait is an old acquaintance of the family, being intimately associated with them for about twenty years. He officiated at the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Vancamp, and later traveled across the state to conduct the funeral of Mrs. Vancamp, and Tuesday afternoon fulfilled the wishes of Mrs. Vancamp by attending her funeral.
    Rev. Tait said: "The life of our sister can truthfully be covered by the words of the Apostle Paul, 'I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith.' Her life has been one continual struggle. There has been no easy place in it during my acquaintance with her. She has been obliged to face conditions that would wreck the faith of many. But through it all, she has kept her life guided by the religious principles taught her in youth, and finished her course with her faith aglow in her Heavenly Father. Such a life as her has been, is worthy of a crown."
    Rev. Martin paid a brief tribute by saying, "Her chief and most beautiful characteristic was her simple trust in the Lord. She knew nothing and cared nothing for the new religious fancies, she was satisfied to live and die a member of the old school of faith."
    The church was appropriately decorated for the occasion by the members of the Ladies Aid Society, of which she was long a faithful member. The church extends to the bereaved family its sincere sympathy.

    Early Tuesday morning, May 27, 1980, Dr. Lester Andrew Van Ells, Sr, aged 81 years, died at his home in Hamilton. He was born November 30, 1898 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Henry M. and Alice Van Ells.  Dr. Van Ells graduated from Marquette University with a Doctor of Medicine and practiced medicine in Wisconsin and Illinois. He was also a pharmacist, as was his father in Milwaukee.
    After retiring in the early 60's, he moved to Grant County, Colorado, where he was an active member of the High Country Masonic Lodge and did part-time work as a pharmacist. Dr. and Mrs. Van Ells moved to the Bitter Root Valley in 1978.
    Dr. Van Ells is survived by his wife Helen B. Van Ells of Hamilton, sons: Lester A. Van Ells, Jr, Fall River, Massachusetts; Edger M. Van Ells of New Marvinsville, West Virginia; Robert Van Ells of Washington state; daughters: Mrs. William Heimke of Plymouth, Wisconsin; Mrs. Leslie Mackowisk of California; Lynn Vann Ells of Madison, Wisconsin; Lorrie Van Ells of Plymouth, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law Mrs. Donald Van Ells of Ellicot City, MD; stepdaughter Mrs Ennis Stanley of Halifax, VA, and several granddaughters and grandsons.
    Cremation will be in Missoula. Mrs. Helen Van Ells will hold a memorial afterward in memory of her husband, Dr. L.A. Van Ells on Thursday, May 29 from 2-4 pm at her home, 165 Black Lane in Hamilton.

Mrs. VanVliet Of Stevensville Died Here Today, Rites Friday
    Services will be Friday at two o'clock at the Wesleyan Church in Hamilton for Mrs. Herbert VanVliet, 85, who died at Valley View Nursing Home today. Rev. D.L. Wadsworth will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery at Stevensville, Whitesitt Funeral Home is in charge.
    Mary Edith Ward was born May 3, 1880 in Burr Oak, Iowa, daughter of John and Mary Ward. She married Herbert J. VanVliet on  June 12, 1912 and came to Stevensville in 1924.
    Surviving beside the widower is a niece in St. Maries, Idaho and three nephews.

Rev. Van Vliet died yesterday
    The Rev. Herbert J. VanVliet, 90, 826 Pine St, died Thursday at a Missoula hospital following a long illness. He was born December 17, 1887 in Burr Oak, Iowa, and came to the Bitter Root Valley in 1905 with his family. He married Mary Ward in Iowa in 1912. Mr. VanVliet taught school for many yeas in Iowa then attended the seminary at Taylor University in Indiana. In Montana, he served as pastor of Methodist churches in several western Montana communities, retiring in 1956.
    After his wife's death, he married Margaret Langley in Missoula in 1973. Survivors include his wife; two step sons, Charles Langley, Arlee and Richard Langley, Great Falls; a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Georgia) Ballard, Hamilton; three nieces and nephews; and four step grandchildren.
    Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Squire-Simmons-Carr Rose Chapel and burial will follow in the family plot in Maplewood Cemetery in Stevensville.

    Charles Veach died last Wednesday night about 11 o'clock after a lingering illness of consumption. He had been in poor health for about three years and death was not unexpected. The deceased was a native of Canada and came to Hamilton about eight years ago. Two years later he married a daughter of W.H. Hayes. Besides a widow, he leaves one son about three years old. He is a brother-in-law of W.A. Hayes, the harness maker, and was a man about 34 years of age. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock  Friday afternoon from the Hayes home on North Second Street.

Sudden Death of Mrs. Vert. Died At Hotel Stevensville Here Last Evening After illness Since Sunday Night.
    Mrs. Amanda Virginia Vert of Victor, died in this city last evening about 5 o'clock, after an illness of only a few days with pneumonia. Mrs. Vert came to Stevensville Sunday to attend the Lowry services, and during the evening services became suddenly ill and was removed to Hotel Stevensville. A physician was called but it was soon found that her condition was alarming and, although it was feared she could not live long, her death came as a shock and surprise to her relatives and friends last evening. Yesterday afternoon, shortly before her death, she spoke of feeling better, and did not realize that death was near, but when the death angel entered and removed her from this life, she passed peacefully away, surrounded by her children and a brother.
    Mrs. Vert was born in Polk County, Iowa, February 26, 1856 , and spent a good portion of her life there. She was married in the east and came to Montana 16 years ago, in the spring of 1895. The family lived at Carlton for a time, after which they came to Stevensville, and later went to Victor where they settled on a ranch, which has since been their home. Mr. Vert died about 9 years ago, and his body rests in the Victor cemetery, where Mrs. Vert's remains will be laid to their final rest tomorrow. At the time of her death, Mrs. Vert had reached the age of 53 years and 3 months.
    She is survived by eight children, six grandchildren, four brothers, and one sister. The children are: Charles Vert, who is in San Francisco; Ira Vert, Mrs. Bessie Flynn, Mrs. Olive Swigett, Perry Vert, Elmer Vert, Elretto and Nevin Vert. The brothers are: T.A. McClain of Hamilton, J.P. McClain an Henry McClain of Charlton, and John McClain of Grims, Iowa. Mrs. Mary Manning, the surviving sister, resides in Biggs, California.
    Mrs. Vert was Noble Grand of the Rebeccah lodge at Victor, and a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Stevensville. The funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock tomorrow morning from one of the Victor churches under the auspices of the Victor Rebekah lodge, and Rev. C.E. Cunningham of this place being the officiating minister.
    The bereaved family is receiving the sympathy of the entire community during their hours of bereavement.

    William Alfred Vincent, 80, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2002, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. He was born in Helena  October 23, 1921, the son of the late Fredrick and Beatrice Ann (Sincock) Vincent of Canyon Creek. Bill was raised in the Canyon Creek and Marysville area northwest of Helena.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Vincent. He is survived by sister, Ruby Bastian of Marysville; brother George Vincent and spouse Mabel of Canyon Creek; brother John Vincent and spouse Gerry of Canyon Creek; sister Rose Kurth of Helena; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Friday at the Dowling Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Steve Millar and burial will be at the Corvallis Cemetery. The American Legion and the Marine Corp. League, Bitterroot Valley detachment will be providing the military honor guard in memory of William A. Vincent's military service. Pallbearers are: Rick Widders, Sr, Dusty Anderson, Rockey Lynn, Chuck Denise, Rick Widders, Jr, and Aaron Hawkinson. Honorary pallbearers are: John Vincent, Bob Anderson and Bill Gehring.
    Dowling Funeral Home and Crematory in Hamilton is caring for the family.
