Frank G. Phillips ranch in winter

taken by Pearl May Phillips from their front porch. ca 1915

In my mother's words..."The fences were only 4 1/2 feet high, to keep the cows in. During the bad part of the winter, the snow would blow across the wheat fields, and it would completely cover them. The snow would stop at the fence and build over. So maybe you would see some posts. We had to be careful because we had barbed wire."
