Methodist Church built in 1877

A small frame church not uncommon in style and sizeamong the gold camps in the west had it's construction interrupted by the threat of attackon the town by Chief Joseph during the Nez Perce War. Construction began in the spring of1877 and dedicated on August 19, 1877.

This was the second church started by Brother William Wesley Van Oradel, an early MontanaCircuit Rider. Brother "Van" preached the dedication sermon the followingSunday.
