Clancy, Jefferson County MT

Transcription and photos by Charleen Spalding

This cemetery is located on private property near Clancy, Montana, Township 8 North, Range 3 West, Section 4. There are numerous sunken graves in this area. According to the Lump City Miner newspaper of June 1, 1895, there were 19 graves at that time. A very old but attractive metal fence surrounds several of the graves but there are no tombstones within the little fence. A local resident said there were more tombstones in the Clancy Cemetery when she was in grade school. Only one tombstone remains, that of Peter Burke. ~ Charleen Spradling
